The University has renewed its agreement with the European Law Moot Court Society (ELMCS). The President of the association and référendaire at the Court of Justice in
Luxembourg, Georges Vallindas, together with the Rector, Rosa Visiedo, and the Managing Director, Carmen García de Elías, have signed this new agreement, which establishes cooperation for at least the next five years. Through this renewal, CEU USP will continue its commitment to promoting European Union law among hundreds of young jurists across Europe and parts of the United States.
In 2014, the University entered into a collaboration agreement with the ELMCS, the association responsible for organising the European Law Moot Court Competition, one of the three leading legal competitions worldwide. Since then, our institution has acted as a “host university”, providing material and logistical support for the annual staging of the competition, which involves more than 80 universities. These are distributed across four regional finals held each year, followed by a grand final featuring four teams at the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg.
Since that time, the University has contributed annually by providing eight students who assist the ELMCS with organisational matters, as well as two professors specialising in European Union law, Jerónimo Maillo and Allan F. Tatham, who serve on the global panel of judges.
