Researcher Mateusz Dasko, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) recipient, participated in the 57th International Conference on Medicinal Chemistry (RICT 2023)  organized by the French Society of Medicinal Chemistry (SCT) from July 5th to 7th. Dasko presented the results of one of his most recent research projects and was awarded the Best Poster Prize by the French Society of Medicinal Chemistry (SCT) conference committee. His studies focus on the use of folic acid for the vectorization of biologically active compounds, a strategy crucial for improving the pharmacokinetic and physicochemical properties of compounds, which is essential in the case of PROTACs that Mateusz is currently developing in his MSCA-IF project at CEU San Pablo University.

This prestigious meeting, sponsored by the European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC), brought together numerous chemistry experts and researchers. This edition focused on "Drug Discovery and Selection." The main topics discussed included the next generation of anti-infective agents, neurodegenerative diseases, small molecules for immuno-oncology or autoimmunity, and new directions in drug discovery chemistry.

Mateusz Dasko currently holds the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) at the Faculty of Pharmacy of our University. His project, titled "Design, synthesis and biological evaluation of PROteolysis-Targeting Chimeric (PROTAC) molecules as anticancer agents, PROTACs - Project ID: 101031883" focuses on developing anti-tumor drugs through selective protein degradation. The project is supervised by Dr. Beatriz de Pascual-Teresa and Dr. Irene Ortín Remón.
