CEU Summer Courses - El Escorial: Knowledge, Leadership, and Culture in a Unique Setting

The San Pablo CEU University Foundation offers this year an ambitious programme of CEU Summer Courses - El Escorial, organized by the CEU Center for Studies, Training, and Social Analysis (CEU-CEFAS). The courses will be held from June 30th to July 18th at the Royal University Center Escorial - María Cristina, led by the Professor of Political Science and President of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, Benigno Pendás.

The courses will begin on Monday, June 30th, with a round table debate that will bring together figures from both the national and international political scene, offering a privileged perspective from the experience of political leadership. To close this inaugural day, Jordi Savall will offer a concert entitled 'The Collected Tastes and the Art of Improvisation: From Ancient Europe to the New World', a show that fuses tradition and innovation.

Key speakers taking part in the different courses include the Minister for the Economy, Carlos Cuerpo; the Vice President of the European Central Bank, Luis de Guindos; the Governor of the Bank of Spain, José Luis Escrivá; the President of LaLiga, Javier Tebas; the former President of the Supreme Court and the General Council of the Judiciary, Carlos Lesmes; the Minister for Health of the Autonomous Community of Madrid, Fátima Matute; the American journalist, political analyst, and writer, Robert Kaplan; the Cuban writer and poet, Zoé Valdés; the Spanish Ambassador and former head of the Royal House, Alberto Aza; the Archbishop of Santiago de Compostela, Monsignor Francisco José Prieto; the Spanish film director, José Luis López Linares; the retired Brigadier General of the Israel Defense Forces, Yossi Kuperwasser; the magistrate of the 2nd Chamber of the Supreme Court, Pablo Llarena; the poet and literary critic, Enrique García-Máiquez; the writer and literary critic, Juan Manuel de Prada; and the director and Goya Award winner for Best Film, ‘La Infiltrada’, Arantxa Echevarría.

The closing ceremony will be held on Friday, July 18th and will feature an address by the Chief of Staff of the Army, Amador Enseñat y Berea, whose career and experience will provide an enriching perspective to conclude the course.

As part of the CEU Summer Courses - El Escorial programme, a series of complementary activities has been organized to enhance the student experience. These free activities are open to the general public and will take place after each day of the course. The offer includes a film forum, a guided visit to the Army Headquarters, and a concert by the Valle de los Caídos Abbey School Choir.
