The Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy at Universidad CEU San Pablo is designed from an innovative perspective and adapted to the new needs of the sector, which will allow you to work in multiple and diverse areas such as scientific research, community and care pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, manufacturing and distribution of medicines. 

Access to an educational program that covers all the fields of action of a pharmacist and includes more than 1,800 hours of practical work in the faculty's laboratories, pharmacies and hospitals. During your studies you will solve clinical cases in simulation and explore all areas of science (chemistry, biology, and pharmacy) to become a highly qualified pharmacist.

We have more than 60 laboratories, both for teaching and research, equipped with the most modern equipment.

If you want to learn to advise on the correct use of medicines, participate in the design and manufacture of new drugs or provide therapeutic advice in pharmacotherapy and diet therapy, and in the field of nutrition and food, prepare yourself at CEU and choose the most complete training for your future.

  • Practical teaching in small groups of 10 students per laboratory: quality teaching, with a strong emphasis on values, which allows for individualised treatment and monitoring for the benefit of the student.

This degree offers you the opportunity to specialise in the discovery, evaluation and monitoring of new drugs through an International Bilingual Program (IBP) at The University of Chicago (USA). This programme includes a thirteen-week stay in 5th year at the American university.

That's why we offer you the opportunity to internationalise your career while you study with several options:

  • You can study the degree in Spanish or in bilingual modality (Spanish-English).

To do so, you must acquire the following competencies:

Grado en Farmacia

The Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy at Universidad CEU San Pablo aims to make you a qualified pharmacist able to advise on the correct use of medicines, participate in the design and manufacture of new drugs and provide therapeutic advice in the nutritional and food areas (among others). To do so, you must acquire the following competencies:

Identify, design, obtain, analyze, control, produce and administer drugs and medicines, as well as other products and raw materials of health interest for human and veterinary use. Evaluate the therapeutic and toxic effects of substances with pharmacological activity.

Acquire skills in the management of legislation, protocol development and bibliography necessary for the design and critical evaluation of preclinical and clinical trials.

To develop the ability to provide therapeutic advice in pharmacotherapy and diet therapy, as well as in the nutritional and dietary field. To learn to promote the rational use of medicines and medical devices and to intervene in clinical and social pharmacy activities, following the pharmaceutical care cycle.

To learn the methods to evaluate the toxicological effects of substances and to design and apply the corresponding tests and analyses, including the hygienic-sanitary ones. Likewise, to know how to design, apply and evaluate reagents, methods and analytical techniques, handling the basic fundamentals of clinical analysis and the characteristics and contents of laboratory diagnostic reports.

Mature communication and information skills, oral and written, to deal adequately with patients and users of the center in which they perform their professional work, in addition to promoting work and collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams and related to other health professionals.  

All this, in the light of ethical and deontological principles, according to the legislative provisions governing professional practice, as well as the recognition of one's own limitations and the need to maintain and update professional competence.

To manage medicines. Preserve, guard, dispense and rationally distribute medicines and other pharmaceutical products. Elaborate magistral formulas and officinal preparations. Provide pharmaceutical care to patients. To perform the invoicing of a Pharmacy Office, if necessary.

More than 800 hours of supervised internships with quality certification

Acquiring experience before finishing your studies is key to your training. The Pharmacy degree has 800 hours of supervised internships (in the 5th year) in Pharmacy Offices or in University Hospitals so that you can learn the professional reality of the pharmacist. We have agreements with the best pharmaceutical laboratories and numerous companies in the sector so that you can do your internship in Spain and abroad.

In addition, you can do extracurricular internships in pharmaceutical laboratories such as Bexal Farmacéutica, Laboratorios Lilly or Roche Farma, and in companies such as GE Healthcare or Jansseg-Cilag, among many others.

The supervised practices of the Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy have the quality certification issued by AENOR together with the International Certification Network (IQNet). With this, the School of Pharmacy is the first of its discipline in Spain to obtain this accreditation. This certification verifies that the management system of the referred practices complies with the requirements of the UNE EN-ISO: 9001:2015 standard.

Supervised internship coordinators

As a Pharmacy student, you will be able to carry out supervised internships in Pharmacy Offices or in Hospitals. Pharmacy offices are subject to an additional quality control, as they must comply with the Guide of Good Pharmacy Practices of the Official College of Pharmacists of Madrid. The hospitals with which we have an agreement have university status and, for the most part, are accredited for the FIR training of specialists in Hospital Pharmacy.

As a result of Universidad CEU San Pablo's commitment to Quality, the School of Pharmacy has a living Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC), aligned with the SISCAL Guidelines at the Centre level, which ensures the review and continuous improvement of all official Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
 
2009

First formalised IQAS at the level of Universidad San Pablo-CEU  that guarantees the quality and continuous improvement of its Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

2012

The IQAS is approved at the Centre level where the IQC of each Centre approves proposals for improvement and their follow-up.

2022

Universidad San Pablo-CEU obtains the SISCAL madri+d model certification for all its centres and the Institutional Accreditation for the centres submitted
