Early childhood education teachers play a fundamental and transcendental role in the education and development of the youngest children, since habits, dispositions, attitudes, and values that condition their development, integration and, ultimately, their happiness, are consolidated in the first years of life. 

The Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Universidad CEU San Pablo trains you to work as a teacher in the educational stage from 0 to 6 years of age and to accompany children towards a harmonious and healthy growth. Our goal is to prepare future teachers with values. To do this, we offer excellent training in pedagogy that is based on two pillars: a solid humanistic learning and practical experience in the classroom. 

We open the doors of the largest private educational group in Spain. We have more than 25 training centers where more than 200 official courses are taught in all educational stages. This degree uses the Structured Objective Competency Evaluation, a learning system with tests that allow students to be competently evaluated, challenging them to face and solve situations very similar to those they will encounter in their future profession.

From the first course you will learn how the current school reality works from our outstanding active teachers. You will come into contact with the CEU Group's educational centers in Madrid and you will be immersed in a specific plan so that, upon completion of your studies, you will be ready to enter the job market with all the guarantees.

You will be able to choose one of these three mentions to complete your profile:

  • English (to teach English as a foreign language).
  • Inclusive education (to know how to detect and deal with different educational needs and knowledge of intercultural environments).
  • Hearing and language (to detect and respond to possible problems related to language skills).

In addition, we offer you the opportunity to obtain the qualification as a teacher of Catholic Religion in Early Childhood with the DECA (Ecclesiastical Declaration of Academic Competence)

Thanks to our exclusive degree in Teaching Skills you will be able to teach any Course in English. To achieve this, we also help you to pass the C1 level of the language. And, if you want, you will be able to take part in several international mobilities to universities in 25 countries to enrich your life and university experience.

There is much to learn in order to be able to teach. Early childhood teachers never stop training, but there are certain competencies necessary to begin to work as a teacher at this stage:

To know the developments of the evolutionary psychology of childhood in the periods 0-3 and 3-6. To know the fundamentals of early care. To recognize the identity of the stage and its cognitive, psychomotor, communicative, social, and affective characteristics.

Knowing how to promote the acquisition of habits around autonomy, freedom, curiosity, observation, experimentation, imitation, acceptance of rules and limits, symbolic and heuristic play.

Identify learning difficulties, cognitive dysfunctions and those related to attention. To know how to inform other specialist professionals in order to approach the collaboration of the center and the teacher in the attention to the special educational needs that arise. Acquire resources to favor the educational integration of students with difficulties.

Create and maintain communication links with families to effectively influence the educational process. Know and know how to exercise the functions of tutor and counselor in relation to family education. Promote and collaborate in actions inside and outside the school.

Identify disorders in sleep, feeding, psychomotor development, attention, and auditory and visual perception. Collaborate with specialized professionals to solve these disorders. To detect affective, nutritional and well-being deficiencies that disturb the adequate physical and psychological development of students.

To know the legislation that regulates nursery schools and their organization. To learn about international experiences and examples of innovative practices in early childhood education. To participate in the development and monitoring of educational projects in early childhood education within the framework of center projects and in collaboration with the territory and with other professionals and social agents.

Knowing how to work as a team with other professionals inside and outside the center in the attention to each student, as well as in the planning of learning sequences and in the organization of work situations in the classroom and in the play space, identifying the peculiarities of the 0-3 period and the 3-6 period.

Hands-on learning in educational centers

The Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education at Universidad CEU San Pablo is focused on employability. Therefore, you will receive an essential part of your training in small class groups, and you will be in contact with CEU educational centers from the second year. In addition, you will complete two internship modules equivalent to 44 ECTS credits during the third and fourth years.

The curricular internships take place in centers in the Community of Madrid, and during the internship you will receive support and guidance from a tutor at the internship center and a professor from the University. In addition, our Career Services will help you choose the best path during your studies and also when you finish them.
