Can you imagine applying technological advances to medicine? Would you like to improve people's health? The Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Universidad CEU San Pablo trains you to solve problems related to biology and medical areas by applying engineering. 

Study with a bilingual program (+50% credits in English) updated with the latest advances in the field. We prepare you for four years in a practical way in the three fundamental pillars of the area: computing, electronics and signal processing and life sciences.

With this degree, you will have a transversal and multidisciplinary vision of the field of health technologies. You will be able to design and develop new medical equipment and devices, build prostheses, but also engage in clinical research, health systems planning, bioinformatics, consulting, R+D+i and much more.

We place special emphasis on you acquiring a deep background in the field of health sciences, but with a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, electronics, and computer science.

We prepare you to work in international multidisciplinary teams anywhere in the world. That's why this degree has a progressive bilingual curriculum and prepares you with exclusive training in technical English.

In addition, we offer you the possibility to take one or more mobility trips to universities around the world, and to study an International Bilingual Program at Boston University in the United States.

In the fourth year you will be able to apply the knowledge you have acquired through internships in a professional environment. At Universidad CEU San Pablo, we work to close internship agreements with large pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, university hospitals and research centers so that you can choose the area of work you like best.   

A faculty of professional professors with extensive research experience, numerous publications in international journals, and patents on medical devices guarantee learning.

You will be able to learn in our laboratories of capacity assistance, biomedical instrumentation, bioengineering, software, human anatomy, biochemistry, and molecular biology. In addition, we have the MIT CEU Fab Lab, the Digital Fabrication Lab belonging to the worldwide network of laboratories of the Center for Bits and Atoms at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Our Montepríncipe Campus is home to the Institute of Technology, the School of Pharmacy and the School of Medicine. Live in a unique ecosystem that will allow you to work on multidisciplinary research projects and broaden your career horizons.

We give you the possibility to study Biomedical Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering simultaneously with the convenience of a compatible schedule and avoid travel. We are the only university in Spain with this dual degree.

To learn the principles of scientific methodology and how to apply them to problem solving in the field of Biomedical Engineering. To know the relationship between acquired biomedical signals and their physiological implications.

To critically mature possible solutions for the development of telemonitoring systems, telemonitoring, telemonitoring and telediagnosis of patients. Discover, interpret, and evaluate patterns (knowledge) by applying data mining techniques. Design, analyze and evaluate electronic circuits corresponding to the instrumental stages of data acquisition in biomedicine.

To acquire knowledge of the principles, techniques and measuring instruments most commonly used in the measurement of biological and medical quantities. To know the relationship between acquired biomedical signals and their physiological implications.

To know and understand the function, content, evolution, and origin of the genome, as well as the microscopic structure, development and functions of organic tissues, in addition to the basic processes of combining cells to create artificial tissues.

Learn the techniques of sequence alignment, gene prediction, gene expression prediction, protein structural alignment, protein structure prediction and protein-protein interactions. Likewise, learn how to model complex biological systems and validate the models with experimental data.

To master a modern language, in the context of the discipline and professional performance, in addition to the essential oral and written communication skills. Learn to use a modern language and its terminology specific to biomedical engineering.

We prepare you to successfully integrate into the business environment. In the fourth year you must complete 180 hours (6 ECTS) of curricular internships. We have agreements with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies, prestigious university hospitals and institutes within the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (Spanish National Research Council) so that you can carry out the internships that most closely match your interests.

As a result of Universidad CEU San Pablo's commitment to Quality, the Institute of Technology has a living Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC), aligned with the SISCAL Guidelines at the Centre level, which ensures the review and continuous improvement of all official Bachelor's and Master's degrees.
 
2009

First formalised IQAS at the level of Universidad San Pablo-CEU  that guarantees the quality and continuous improvement of its Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

2012

The IQAS is approved at the Centre level where the IQC of each Centre approves proposals for improvement and their follow-up.

2022

Universidad San Pablo-CEU obtains the SISCAL madri+d model certification for all its centres and the Institutional Accreditation for the centres submitted
