Your First Professional Experience

Internships are much more than just an academic requirement. They offer the opportunity to apply the knowledge you’ve gained in a real-world setting, work alongside industry professionals, and take on responsibilities that bring you closer to the professional world.

At Universidad CEU San Pablo, this process is supported by personalized guidance from the very beginning. Each student receives guidance to identify the opportunities that best match their profile, prepare for the selection process, and approach their first professional experience with confidence, sound judgment, and self-assurance.

The Process, Step by Step

How to Start Your Internship

The Career Services team guides each student throughout the entire process, from defining their professional profile to accessing opportunities aligned with their education, interests, and goals. A personalized journey that combines tailored guidance, practical tools, and ongoing support to facilitate the transition into the professional world.

Before you start looking for opportunities, it’s important to be prepared. Our workshops and Job Fairs help you develop the skills that make a difference in today’s hiring process: from creating a strong resume and effectively presenting your profile to confidently navigating an interview.

Log in to your Career Center, check the event calendar, and reserve your spot.

Identify the companies that truly interest you and where you can add value. Research what kind of candidates they’re looking for, the type of talent they hire, and what opportunities might be a good fit for you.

Organize your follow-up: keep track of the steps you take, the companies you apply to, your contacts, interviews, and what you’ve learned. This will help you make better decisions and ensure you don’t miss out on opportunities.

Your resume is your introduction. Take your time and pay attention to every detail: it’s the first impression a company will have of you.

At Carreras Profesionales, we help you review, improve, and tailor your resume so that it clearly reflects your profile and potential.

Check out our recommendations and craft your resume thoughtfully.

Your Career Advisor will help you shape your professional profile, answer questions about your resume, and prepare you to approach interviews with greater confidence.

Their knowledge of the job market and what companies are looking for today will allow you to receive personalized guidance, make better decisions, and navigate your entry into the professional world with greater confidence.

Internships and International Employment

Professional experience can also be gained in an international setting. Through well-established programs in Europe, the Americas, and Asia, students gain access to internships at leading companies and institutions while expanding their academic and personal development.

International internships allow students to develop transferable skills, improve their ability to adapt to multicultural environments, and open up new career opportunities in an increasingly global job market.

Entrepreneurship isn’t something you learn solely in the classroom. This European program offers students with an entrepreneurial spirit the opportunity to develop their projects alongside established business owners in other European countries, working from the inside, observing how real-world decisions are made, and building an international network of contacts from day one.

For those who have an idea and want to understand how to turn it into a solid business.

Working outside Spain for a Spanish company that already operates on a global scale offers an advantage that few scholarships provide: the stability of a well-established professional structure in a new market.

The ICEX Vives Scholarships allow you to join real-world projects at the international offices of Spanish companies, gaining direct experience in foreign markets from a position with institutional support. A first international experience with all the necessary safeguards.

Spain’s Economic and Commercial Offices and Chambers of Commerce abroad serve as a meeting point between Spanish companies and international markets. This programme offers the opportunity to undertake work placements in these settings, working on business internationalisation projects with institutional support and a real-world market perspective.

An especially valuable experience for those pursuing a career in foreign trade or international economic relations.

Luxembourg is home to some of Europe’s leading financial institutions. This programme, developed in collaboration with the Belux Chamber of Commerce, offers students the opportunity to undertake work placements at top-tier consultancies in this environment, with all that working in an international financial centre of this calibre entails.

For those who want their first international experience to have a real impact on their career path.

EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development) is one of the world’s most recognised accreditation bodies in the field of business management education. Its Highered platform puts this endorsement at the service of students: a space where leading organisations actively seek university graduates for internships and entry-level roles anywhere in the world.

As a student at CEU San Pablo, you have direct access to this network.

The MAEC-AECID Scholarship Programme, run by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers training and internship opportunities in key areas such as international cooperation, culture and diplomacy.

It enables students to gain professional experience both in Spain and abroad, within high-level institutional settings with a strong international focus.
