For the second year in
a row, the Universitary Orientation
Service (UOS) team has held a kickoff event for the Buddy Program, which helps new students (Buddy Juniors) to learn
the ropes upon arriving on campus. During the first welcome session, year students
mingled with potential “buddies”.
At the event, held
simultaneously on both the Moncloa and Monteprincipe campuses, over 250 students, both new and returning, participated
in teambuilding activities to interact and get to know each other better, with
a DJ providing the soundtrack. The activities and the following meal provided
plenty of opportunities for first year students to chat with Buddy Seniors (students
who have been at the university for longer) to get their opinions and clear up doubts.
The Buddy Seniors will help the first year students through December to accompany
them and help them adapt to university life.
This program, organized by the Vicerectorate for Students
and University Life, provides orientation and advice to new students, creates
links between students studying the same degree but in different years,
promotes participation in other campus activities, reinforces the culture of Zero
Tolerance for peer harassment and engenders a spirit of camaraderie.
