Open Badge Technology

What do companies look for in their selection processes? Until not long ago, they focused on hard skills; i.e. technical knowledge. However, soft skills are becoming more and more relevant and have proven to be key.

Soft skills are characteristics and skills we all have, which indicate how we interact with others through our interpersonal, social, and methodical skills. The skills that determine the ability of professionals to engage in their day-to-day activities involve four key elements:

Wisdom

KNOWLEDGE

Expertise

SKILLS

Ability

COMPETENCIES

Will

ATTITUDE

Whilst soft skills play a key role in corporate environments, they are difficult to measure. In order to obtain a match, job seeking platforms, such as LinkedIn, allow companies to search for candidates based on their skills.

Open Badge: new innovative technology to certify soft skills during the degree programme

In CEU we want our graduates to be able to successfully face the employability challenges. Therefore, we have developed our own model to certify the transversal skills which progressively more companies are requiring. On this matter, we encourage students to make the most of their time in university to acquire, practise and certify these skills.

What is a badge?

A digital badge recognises and certifies a new acquired skill or knowledge and increases visibility on the profile when looking for a job.

It provides assurance to the employer, who will be able to check the experiences that back up those skills with just one click.

HOW CAN CEU HELP?

We provide the technology so that students can acquire, practise and certify skills through the development of activities during their Degree Programme. Moreover, if students wish to do so, skills may be added directly to their LinkedIn profile.
