The president of the People’s Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has inaugurated the tribute organised by the Catholic Association of Propagandists (ACdP), the Reformismo 21 Foundation, and the Center for Studies, Training, and Social Analysis (CEU-CEFAS) to the intellectual, politician, and member of the National Council of the ACdP, Eugenio Nasarre, who passed away last January.

In his speech, Feijóo described Nasarre as "a man of the present with an exceptional past, with a biography that marks milestones in our recent history." He also recalled that "Nasarre believed in the Spanish people not only because of the love he felt for them, but because of his experience, as he was a man of the Transition to democracy. That Transition was possible because patriotic politicians and people aspiring for freedom came together. They wanted freedom without hatred."

In that vein, the PP leader emphasised that no government can appropriate the State to auction off its integrity, its legal security, or equality before the law. And he concluded by stating that Eugenio Nasarre "is very present because his values ??are more alive than ever, and his faith in constructive dialogue, which listens and learns, will continue to guide us. Now we have his encouragement to promote policies for dialogue. There are ideas that are timeless, like the ideas of Eugenio Nasarre."

The president of the ACdP and the Fundación Universitaria San Pablo CEU, Alfonso Bullón de Mendoza, highlighted that Nasarre "was a multifaceted man, who was committed to the world of education, to Europe, and to the presence of Catholics in public service."

After the inauguration, a panel was held to highlight his role in educational freedom and equal opportunities. Former Minister of Education and Culture and former President of the Community of Madrid, Esperanza Aguirre, participated, describing Nasarre as "a brilliant intellectual, exemplary civil servant, extremely generous politician, and a good Christian."

The deputy secretary general of Catholic Schools, Luis Centeno, recalled that for Nasarre "there could be no educational freedom without educational plurality. The exclusivity of educational models does not provide freedom. That is why subsidised education is so important, which is not subsidiary to public education, but complementary to it."

The director of the Chair of Educational Policies at UCJC and former president of the State School Council, Francisco López Rupérez, recalled that Nasarre was a humanist "committed to the involvement of intellectuals in education." Furthermore, he advocated for the teaching of Humanities to guide our students, serving as a compass that embodies the enlightened heritage of Western civilisation.

During the event, held in the Aula Magna of Universidad CEU San Pablo, his commitment to Europe and his promotion of the presence of Catholics in the public sector were also memorialised.
