Relevant characteristics of the research group (description of the group's activity):

SIMPAIR Group’s main goal is researching on the social and ethical impact of Artificial Intelligence, from the humanist approach.

Besides, the group studies:

  1. The recognition of areas where Artificial Intelligence can be used for social aims, feasible applications. Analysis of the improvements that it could lead to.
  2. Analysis of the legal framework related to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in order to know the social impact implications and shortcomings of these technologies. Developing a Comparative Law-based analysis that allows suggesting improvements of the Spanish legal framework regarding this subject.
  3. The deepening of the ethical aspects of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics development, from one of the complementary approaches:
  • The so-called “intelligence agents” as potential ethical subjects.
  • The individuals that relate to the Artificial Intelligence systems.
  1. The knowledge of the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in the religious beliefs systems.
  2. The assessment of the impact of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics in the Biomedicine field, ranging from new diseases research, up to their diagnosis and treatment.

 

This research group, to a greater or lesser extent, is cross-sectional due to its aim and interdisciplinary because of its impact on all areas of society. The group will work in different areas, depending on the involved researchers’ areas of specialisation.
